SHANNON – The Lee County School District will hold two community forums on today about the School Improvement Grant it is applying for at Shannon Middle School.
The first event will be held at 10 a.m. at the Central Office, and the other one will be at 6 p.m. in the Shannon High School library. The forums will be an opportunity for parents or community members to get information about the grant proposal and to make comments.
The school is applying for a grant that would provide $1.25 million per year for three years to turn around the low-performing school. As part of the grant process, it needed to replace the principal at Shannon Middle School and implement other new policies. The grant is administered by the U.S. Department of Education.
