School uniforms forum in Starkville

By The Associated Press

STARKVILLE — The Starkville School District will hold a public forum on a proposed dress code.

The forum is 6 p.m. Thursday at the Greensboro Center.

In January, the school board voted 3-2 to require all students to wear uniforms. Last week, the board delayed implementation of the dress code until they heard from parents.

The Columbus Commercial Dispatch reports Superintendent Judy Couey will open the forum with a brief presentation on the uniforms proposal.

Couey has said that research has shown uniforms to decrease disciplinary issues and improve student concentration.
