TUPELO – Love to fling a flying disc? The Boy Scouts have an event for you.
On Oct. 2, the Yocona Area Council of the Boy Scouts of America will host a disc golf tournament at Veteran’s Park in Tupelo.
“Since we’ve seen how popular disc golf is, we thought it would be great to host a tournament,” said Apilachi District Executive Robby Parman. “It will be a fundraiser for the Yocona Area Council, and it will go toward helping out with the camp and other Scouting activities.”
The tournament will begin that Saturday with registration at 8 a.m., and the first flight of players will “tee off” around 9.
“It’s $30 for registration, and if you want to stay for lunch, it’s just $5,” Parman said. Each participant will receive a golf disc with a logo that commemorates the tournament, which organizers hope will become an annual event.
