TAYLOR – The search for Stephen Tyler Emerick was suspended by mid-afternoon on Friday, said Lafayette County EMA Director David Shaw, after searchers battled heavy rains throughout much of the day.
Law enforcement and emergency response officials, along with scores of volunteers, have hunted on land and in the Yocona River for the 19-year-old man since Wednesday, when Emerick’s truck was found yards from the river in southwest Lafayette County with his keys, wallet and cell phone in it.
Emerick left work on Monday night after complaining of illness. He visited Walmart stores in Pontotoc and Oxford after that but has not been seen since.
Search and rescue operations are expected to resume Saturday.
