Seatbelts keep injuries minor in early morning Lee County wreck

By Press Release

Two Lee County residents learned the importance of wearing their seatbelts when the teenage driver lost control of his pickup on Hwy 6 in Plantersville.

At about 6 a.m. Sunday, Plantersville Fire Department, North Mississippi Medical Center Medics, and Plantersville Police were dispatched to the wreck.

Preliminary investigation reveals the driver lost control in a curve and struck a speed limit sign.

The truck then went down an embankment and rolled multiple times along a 50 yard swath in a ditch.

Because the driver and passenger were wearing seatbelts and the air bags deployed, the worse injury suffered was a black eye. As one of the paramedics commented, “If that hadn’t been buckled in, we would have been picking them up out of the ditch.”
