SEC women's play starts today

The SEC women’s basketball slate tips off today, with Ole Miss at No. 18 Vanderbilt and Mississippi State at Auburn.
Tipoff for both games is set for 2 p.m. The Ole Miss game will be seen on CSS.
Ole Miss (9-4) comes into today’s game with a modest three-game winning streak after back-to-back losses to nationally ranked Ohio State (79-77) and Texas (64-58).
Senior Rebels guard Bianca Thomas leads the SEC in scoring (21.2 ppg).
Vanderbilt (11-2) closed out 2009 with a 74-69 loss at No. 3 Notre Dame, snapping a four-game winning streak.
Ole Miss beat Vandy 71-69 in Oxford last season.
Ole Miss will open its home SEC slate next Sunday against Arkansas.
Vanderbilt will also be MSU’s opponent for its home opener on Thursday night.
The Bulldogs (9-4) have won five of their last six games. They are 2-1 against ranked foes this season, including an 81-60 loss at Xavier on Dec. 20.
Senior guard Alexis Rack is second in the SEC in scoring (19.8).
Auburn (9-4) saw a six-game winning streak end with a 66-55 loss at San Diego State on Dec. 30. The Tigers returned just one starter from last year’s SEC Championship team, which beat MSU 63-58 in Starkville.
Other league openers today: No. 9 Georgia at Alabama, No. 11 LSU at South Carolina and Florida at Arkansas. No. 4 Tennessee plays No. 14 Oklahoma in a non-league game on ESPN2. at 6 p.m.
