TUPELO – A section of the Northern Loop road will open Friday, according to the city.

Barnes Crossing West, which will ultimately connect McCullough Boulevard and North Gloster at the Barnes Crossing commercial district, will officially be open to traffic following a 9 a.m. ribbon-cutting ceremony.

The ceremony will be held on the new bridge crossing the Natchez Trace, and the new road will be open between North Gloster and Mt. Vernon Road. The rest of the loop will open once a bridge crossing Highway 78 is completed.
