High winds and stormy weather hit Northeast Mississippi Wednesday night.
Oxford and Lafayette County were hit around 9 p.m. According to Oxford Police Chief Mike Martin, a heavy wind gust came through and caused damage.
He said the canopy of the Chevron station was blown off at the intersection of Highway 278 and Thacker Road. Also, widespread power outages were reported throughout Lafayette County and in portions of Oxford.
A few trees were reported across the road.
Power outages and storm damage were reported in Blue Springs, New Albany, Oxford, Ripley and other communities around Northeast Mississippi.
