Sex bias rejected against South Tippah school district

OXFORD – Janet Rena Haynes’ sex discrimination lawsuit was thrown out Tuesday against South Tippah School District.

Chief Justice Michael P. Mills granted the district’s request to accept its issues, rather than Haynes’ version of how it filled the post of vice principal at Ripley Elementary School.

Haynes, a kindergarten teacher, alleged she was not hired because she is a woman.

South Tippah insisted there was no truth to her claims about bias when it hired a man for the job in 2007, saying Haynes was not within the top five most qualified applicants.

Mills also dismissed the case and ordered that it cannot be brought up again.
