Sex offender registration case set for Oct. trial

Court NewsOXFORD, Miss. (AP) — A man charged with failing to register as a sex offender in Lee County has been scheduled for trial Oct. 21.

The indictment in the case charges 30-year-old Tyrae Jamison with failing to register as a sex offender between Aug. 1, 2012 and July 13, 2013.

A filing in U.S. District Court in Oxford said Jamison waived his right to appear at an arraignment and entered a plea of not guilty Sept. 4.

He faces up to 10 years in prison and up to a $250,000 fine, if convicted.

Jamison is required to register as a sex offender because he was convicted of sexual battery in Lee County in 2005.
