PONTOTOC – A Shannon man died after sustaining critical injuries in a single vehicle accident this morning.
Charles Ethridge, 31, of Shannon, was driving east on Highway 342 in a 1996 Ford Explorer when he ran off the roadway and then overcorrected according to Highway Patrol Trooper Jason Roe.
When he overcorrected, the vehicle rolled, ejecting him.
A 14-year-old passenger was able to crawl out of the window while the vehicle was rolling.
Ethridge was airlifted to the Regional Medical Center in Memphis with critical injuries and died from those injuries around 11 a.m. The passenger was taken by ambulance to the North Mississippi Medical Center.
The accident happened around 8 a.m. near Highway 41.
