OXFORD – A June 27 trial date was set Thursday for Tupelo businessman Ray Shoemaker and a co-defendant in an alleged nursing home fraud and kickback scheme.
Shoemaker and Lee Garner of Batesville have pleaded not guilty to the multi-count federal indictment.
Senior U.S. District Judge Neal B. Biggers Jr. set the new trial date from May 9 after Shoemaker asked for a delay, saying his counsel needed more time to adequately prepare his defense.
The government had no objections to the continuance.
