Shooting may have been self-defense

BOONEVILLE – Thursday night’s shooting of a Prentiss County man may have been self defense, according to Sheriff Randy Tolar.
Tolar said the man who was shot was at the home of his ex-wife and her fiancé when he was shot. Tolar said the alleged victim is in a drug induced comma at the North Mississippi Medical Center.
The incident happened at around 8 p.m. at a home on County Road 2008 just south of Booneville. The man was shot multiple times in the upper body and had to be airlifted to the NMMC.
Two handguns were recovered from the scene and Tolar said both appeared to had been fired.
The incident is still under investigation.
