CORINTH – Police on Thursday released a suspect held in the shooting of two Corinth men earlier this week.

Akeem Garth, 20, of Walnut, was held at Alcorn County Jail two nights while police investigated his shooting of Travis Willis, 26, of Corinth and Wesley Stover, 27, of Corinth.

Corinth chief of detectives Capt. Ralph Dance said questioning of witnesses indicate the shooting may have been in self-defense, and the case will be presented to an Alcorn County grand jury to determine if charges are filed.

Garth allegedly shot the men when he was attacked by them at a Forrest School Road residence over Garth’s purported assault of Stover’s sister-in-law, Garth’s girlfriend.
