TUPELO – A Bryson Drive resident and friend of Tuesday morning’s shooting victim said the victim was the brother of Latosha Isby, the woman charged with his murder.

Shirley Price, 35, said her oldest son was awoken by the early morning argument that led to the shooting around 2 a.m. Tuesday morning.

“No one on the street heard anything,” she said. “If my son hadn’t come to wake me up, I wouldn’t have known what happened.”

She went to the apartment of Eric Isby, 24, Latosha Isby’s brother, where she saw his frantic girlfriend, who called the police and told Price to put pressure on the wound. She said the wound appeared to have come from a small caliber bullet.

Price said about eight minutes passed between the time Latosha Isby, 27, of Tupelo, fled the scene, and the time the police were called and arrived.

Price said she has lived on the street for more than eight years and has known the Isbys since they were in their teens.

“It’s sad that an argument over nothing turned into this,” she said. “I hate it. This is usually such a quiet street.”

Latosha Isby was located by police at a nearby apartment shortly after she allegedly shot her brother. Bryson Drive is within 300 yards of at least four small apartment complexes along Milford Street.

Isby was charged with aggravated assault, and her brother was transported to the North Mississippi Medical Center to be treated for his gunshot wound.

Eric Isby died from his wound early Tuesday afternoon and Latosha Isby’s charge was upgraded to murder. She will be arraigned in the Lee County Justice Court at 3 p.m. today.

Got to wonder just how much alcohol was consumed by all involved prior to the shooting. Sober folks rarely shoot their siblings.
