TUPELO – Signs placed in front of several Tupelo schools on Thursday proclaim the school district as a “High Performing” or “B” school district.
Official rankings from the Mississippi Department of Education will be released on Friday morning. “High Performing” or “B” is the second highest of seven levels awarded by the MDE based upon results of state tests students took last spring.
For the previous three years, Tupelo has been ranked “Academic Watch,” the fourth highest tier, meaning the district may be looking at a jump of two levels.
Signs have been placed at Lawhon Elementary, the Link Centre, Tupelo Middle School, the Filmore Center and Pierce Street Elementary, among other locations.
See Friday’s Daily Journal for complete information about Tupelo’s ranking, as well as the ranking of all Northeast Mississippi schools and districts.
