TUPELO – The second annual Tupelo Craft Beer Festival is Saturday, and it will include six Mississippi craft breweries.

They are among the 30 companies participating in the event that will be held from noon to 5 p.m. in Fairpark.

“Last year we had only three from Mississippi, but this year we’ll have six – Southern Prohibition Brewing, Crooked Letter Brewing, Lazy Magnolia, Lucky Town, Yalobusha Brewing and Oxford Brewing,” said festival organizer Matt Leff.

Craft beef festivals are designed to showcase local companies, Leff said, and having Yalobusha and Oxford involved should pique interest in Saturday’s festival in Tupelo.

Yalobusha Brewing is based in Water Valley. Oxford Brewing, while currently contract brewing elsewhere, is expected to open is facility in its namesake town in the next few months.

“There will be owners and brewers you can meet, and every company will have a representative,” Leff said.

Tickets for the festival are $40 and can be purchased at Blue Canoe, Papa V’s, Neon Pig, Todd’s Big Star and the Downtown Tupelo Main Street Association office.

Tickets for a beer dinner Friday are available at Kermit’s Outlaw Kitchen as well, for $95.

Leff said advance ticket sales have reached 700, ahead of last year’s pace.

With this year’s festival taking place a few weeks later than last year’s event, better weather is expected.

The forecast calls for partly cloudy skies with the temperature in the mid-60s.

Leff expects a big walk-up crowd on Saturday, but said he’ll have to cap ticket sales at 1,500.

“That’s the capacity that we can reach,” he said.

Again this year, food will be available at the festival, with Neon Pig and Local Mobile food truck. In addition, a new food truck, Two Dudes Mexican Foods, will make its debut.
