Smithville mayor wins national honor

WASHINGTON, D.C. – Smithville Mayor Gregg Kennedy received the Small Business Administration’s “Phoenix Award for Outstanding Contributions to Disaster Recovery”
Tuesday at a ceremony at the National Small Business Week celebration.
“I want to congratulate Mayor Kennedy for receiving this award,” said U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee, R-Miss., in a statement. “He has done an incredible job with a very difficult situation. The resolve he has shown in leading the rebuilding of his community is an inspiration.”
The SBA awards the Phoenix to business owners, public officials and volunteers contribute to rebuilding communities after disasters.
