Solution in sight for water woes in Itawamba

By The Itawamba County Times

FULTON – Members of the Northeast Itawamba Water Association board say they’re close to reaching an arrangement with the city of Fulton to provide water for its service area.
If all goes according to plan, the water will be pumped from the Tennessee-Tombigbee Waterway down a 10-inch line running straight to the Northeast Itawamba Water Association’s coverage area, hopefully providing both clean water and sufficient pressure to its approximately 1,780 customers. The project also will require the Salem water plant to be converted into a pumping station.
The cost of the project has yet to be determined, but Northeast Itawamba Water Association customers were told to expect a rate increase to cover the costs.
