Some Mississippi teachers get early pay because of Isaac

By The Associated Press

JACKSON — South Mississippi teachers will be paid early because of severe weather expected from Isaac.

The system was a tropical storm late Monday but was expected to develop into a hurricane. Forecasters expect it to bring high winds and heavy rain to Mississippi.

Public school teachers are scheduled to be paid by direct deposit on Aug. 31. However, Gov. Phil Bryant issued an order Monday for teachers in the southern part of the state to be paid before Isaac makes landfall.
