South Mississippi schools in Lake close in wake of Sunday storm

By The Associated Press

LAKE — Schools will be closed in the Lake community because of damage caused by a thunderstorm.

Alvin Seaney, Scott County emergency management director, tells The Clarion-Ledger that no one was hurt in Sunday’s storms, although a school principal was in her office when the roof was torn off the building.

He said all Lake schools will be closed Monday and district officials will make a decision later about whether to close schools on Tuesday.

The Mississippi Emergency Management Agency says roofs were damaged at Lake Elementary and High schools.
