JACKSON — Southaven Mayor Greg Davis will be in Jackson next week for the civil trial where Mississippi Auditor Stacey Pickering is trying to recover funds that the state says the mayor owes the city.

In November 2011, Pickering ordered Davis to repay more than $170,000 for the mayor’s unsubstantiated expenses for trips, personal counseling, expensive dinners and entertainment. Through supporters, Davis repaid $96,000, but still owes more than $70,000.

In the suit filed last summer, Pickering alleges that Davis received illegal reimbursement from the city for personal expenses, made false representations to city officials and illegally used the city’s credit card for his personal benefit.

When reached Thursday about next week’s civil case, Davis the Commercial Appeal (http://bit.ly/10REJuG ) he had not comment on the pending case.
