CALHOUN CITY – Mississippi Action for Progress Inc., a non-profit private child care organization dedicated to improving the lives of children and their families in the state, announces its annual recruitment drive for the 2008-2009 school year.
Applications are currently being accepted for all children who will be 3 or 4 years old on or before Sept. 1, regardless of race, creed, color, national origin or disabling condition.
Interested parents should take a copy of the following information to the South Calhoun Head Start Center, 125 Carter Street:
n Child’s certified birth certificate
n Proof of income, such as a W-2, a tax return or an agency verification statement
n Medicaid card
n Copy of last Medicaid screening, if applicable
n Copy of Social Security card
n Copy of child’s immunization Form 121.
Contact the center to make an appointment or for more information by calling 628-6585. Staff are available to take applications and offer information 7:30 -a.m.-3 p.m. Monday through Friday. Early application increases the chance of children attending Head Start in August, if eligible.
Center staff ask that parents of children currently on the waiting list come in and update records for accuracy.
