JACKSON, Miss. (AP) — Jackson Zoo officials hope a new $230,000 Splash Pad will take some of the bite out of an admission increase.
The Clarion-Ledger reports (http://on.thec-l.com/NZqEAl ) the new zoo-themed feature offers kids a cool-down just as temperatures are spiking. It can handle a capacity of 150-180 children at a time.
Zoo director Beth Poff says admission went from $8 to $10 for adults and from $5 to $6.75 for children ages 12 and younger. Admission continues to be free for children younger than 2 and Friends of the Zoo.
Poff says the new Splash Pad was paid for with last year’s state bond funds the zoo received.
