OXFORD – University of Mississippi head football coach Houston Nutt and former University of Colorado coach Bill McCartney will be the keynote speakers next weekend at a conference on faith, virtue and leadership in men’s lives.
The conference, titled “The Standard,” is sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ and the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.
According to Crusade Director Isaac Jenkins, the purpose of the conference is to challenge men to become better husbands, fathers and role models.
“So many marriages are failing these days, and we think this is a great opportunity for men to hear from other men about their struggles, as well as how to raise their own standards and to walk closer with the Lord,” said Jenkins.
The conference will feature testimonies from a number of former Ole Miss sports figures.
Nutt will speak Friday night and McCartney, co-founder of the men’s organization Promise Keepers, will speak Saturday morning.
There’s also a pastor’s dinner Friday evening, free of charge, at the indoor practice facility and both Nutt and McCartney will speak there as well.
The conference runs from 7-9 p.m. Friday and 9-11a.m. Saturday. Tickets are $25 per person, $15 for students and will be available at the Tad Smith Coliseum box office. For more information or to pre-register, visit www.MensStandard.org or call Isaac Jenkins at (662) 607-2400.
