STARKVILLE — Starkville officials have adopted a $16.26 million budget for the 2012 fiscal year.
The budget adopted Tuesday has an ending fund balance of $775,000 and no tax increases, according to The Dispatch. It drew heavy criticism from two aldermen who voted against it and complained that it lacks money for street overlay and drainage. Roy Perkins said the $200,000 in new money for capital investments is insufficient for street projects.
Alderwoman Sandra Sistrunk, head of the budget committee, said the budget will be amended multiple times throughout the year and that it’s “very likely” funds will be identified for capital investments before the end of 2012.
