for Starkville High principal

STARKVILLE – Starkville High School Principal Kathi Wilson’s misdemeanor assault charge is scheduled to be heard Thursday by City Court Judge William Eshee.

Wilson was scheduled to appear in court March 23, but her attorney, Roy Perkins, had the case postponed.

Wilson is charged with assaulting special education teacher Lisa Vickers. Court records show that Vickers accused Wilson of grabbing her wrist and causing her to hit a desk. Wilson was released after her Feb. 7 arrest by the Starkville Police Department on the condition that she not contact Vickers and two other teachers at Starkville High School.

If found guilty, Wilson faces up to a $500 fine and six months in jail.

Starkville Schools superintendent Phil Burchfield has said the issue is a personnel matter and won’t comment on it.
