State building evacuated in Clinton

By The Associated Press

he Mississippi Department of Revenue building in Clinton was evacuated Friday because of a suspected natural gas leak.

Workers with Atmos Energy and other state agencies continued late Friday to look for the cause of an odor that sent at least eight employees to local hospitals where they were treated and released after complaining of difficulty breathing, said Joey Jamison, assistant chief of the Raymond Fire Department.

Jamison says a leak had been found Tuesday and repaired. He said the source of the lingering odor was being investigated.
