State Farm honors Corinth principal

CORINTH – Corinth Elementary School Principal Denise Webb was recently honored with a 2010 Embrace Life Award by State Farm. She was one of 13 national recipients.
Webb’s recognition came from the strength she exhibited after the sudden death of her 38-year-old husband, Jimmy, in 2001. In the essay she was required to write, she detailed how strength from her family, friends, church, career and God helped her overcome the adversity.
Webb was nominated for the award by Tom Rogers, a Corinth area State Farm agent and a member of the Corinth School Board. She received a crystal prize, a monetary award and a trip to State Farm’s headquarters in Bloomington, Ill., where she was recognized at a formal ceremony in April.
Stanford set to appeal third request for bail
n R. Allen Stanford said Monday he’ll appeal rejection of his third request for bail.
The former CEO of Stanford Financial Group informed U.S. District Judge David Hittner in Houston, Texas, that his attorneys will appeal to the 5th Circuit Court of Appeals.
Last week, Hittner denied Stanford’s latest bail request, which claimed he’d been denied various constitutional rights by his year-plus detention in a federal facility.
Stanford goes on trial in January charged with 23 counts that he masterminded a $7.2 billion Ponzi scheme on thousands of people who bought certificates of deposit sold through the Stanford International Bank in Antigua.
