WEST, Miss. (AP) — Veteran state Rep. Mary Ann Stevens, who was elected to the Mississippi House in 1981, will not run for re-election.
Stevens, a Democrat from West, says in a statement that she may the decision after talking with her family.
Stevens described her service in the Legislature as “a great calling and a humbling experience.” She thanked her supporters.
Stevens is the former chairwoman of the House Insurance Committee. She also served as an alderwoman and mayor in West.
Jason White, Nathaniel Christian and Thomas Eskridge in the Aug. 2 Democratic primary.
House District 48 covers Holmes, Attala, Carroll, Choctaw, Humphreys and Leake counties.
