BOONEVILLE – The Prentiss County Sheriff’s Office made an arrest Thursday in the suspected illegal sale of prescription drugs with the help of the North Mississippi Narcotics Unit, Tishomingo County Sheriff’s Office and Booneville Police Department.
Carl Thomas Jr., 49, of 141 County Road 3280, New Site, was charged with two counts of conspiracy to distribute controlled substances and sale of a controlled substance, said Sheriff Randy Tolar. He was released the same day on $10,000 bond.
Thomas allegedly made multiple sales of scheduled prescription medications to undercover narcotics agents.
“The illegal and illicit sale of pharmaceutical medication has become a real problem all over the United States and is a threat to our young people because of the easy accessibility of these drugs,” the sheriff said.
