Suspect arrested in Columbus shooting

COLUMBUS, Miss. (AP) — Police say a 38-year-old man has been arrested in connection with an Aug. 14 shooting in Columbus.

WTVA reports that Orlando Charvez Harris of Columbus was arrested Friday afternoon on a charge of aggravated assault and a probation violation.

Officers were called to a home on Burgundy Drive in East Columbus shortly after 10:30 p.m. the night of Aug. 14.

Investigators say four men had forced their way into a storage shed where other men. A fight then began.

One man, Lionel Hampton Jr., was taken to the Baptist Memorial Hospital-Golden Triangle with a gunshot wound that was described as not life-threatening.

It was not immediately clear whether Harris has an attorney.
