Suspect arrested in Oxford bomb scare

Crime Stock OXFORD – Oxford police have arrested a Bruce man in relation to a bomb threat that prompted emergency officials to evacuate a theater and shopping center on Jackson Avenue on Sunday evening.

Matthew Allen, 29, was charged with false report of a bomb, which is a felony punishable by a fine of up to $10,000 or a prison sentence up to 10 years.

Police declined to say how Allen was identified as a suspect, citing an ongoing investigation. Allen’s bond was set at $10,000.

The bomb scare started when a suspicious package was discovered in front of the Malco complex.
