Suspect in Corinth robberies in custody

CORINTH – A Corinth man faces additional charges in connection with two armed robberies the night of Aug. 18 and the early morning of Aug. 19.

A bond of $75,000 was set for Demarkquez Williams, 18, of Wick Street, in the Aug. 19 incident on charges of attempted murder and attempted armed robbery of a man working outside on Wick Street, whom Williams allegedly shot.

Williams was picked up Aug. 22 on a drug-related warrant and held at Tishomingo County Jail. Bond on the charge of armed robbery and aggravated assault was set at $50,000 for the Aug. 18 incident, in which a victim was robbed and shot after being approached at the intersection of North Polk Street and Highway 2. The gun used in both shootings has been recovered.

A second suspect, Devon Collins, 19, of Sawyer Road, also was charged in the Aug. 18 incident with bond set at $50,000.
