NEW ALBANY – New Albany police are investigating a suspected home invasion in which the suspect was shot early Saturday by the homeowner.

Police Chief Chris Robertson said Leondrick “T.O. Satterwhite, 24, died at the scene of a Butler Avenue incident in which police were called to a residence about 4 a.m.

The homeowner called to report that someone was attempting to break into the home, and before the police arrived Satterwhite allegedly had kicked in the door and entered the house, where the homeowner shot him.

Robertson said Satterwhite allegedly had a prior relationship with a female resident in the home.

The incident is being investigated as a home invasion, Robertson said, because “the resident did call 911 to get police to intervene and warned Mr. Satterwhite not to come in, but Satterwhite apparently kicked in the door and came in on him before police could arrive.”
