TUPELO – Police have charged a Lee County man with aggravated assault in connection with a stabbing at the Elks Lodge on Dec. 28.
Brian Blanchard, 32, was arrested by the Okolona Police Department shortly after 2 p.m. Wednesday without incident, according to Tupelo Police Sgt. Jerry Davis.
Police had been looking for Blanchard since the incident occurred, but a lack of leads and witness statements slowed the investigation, authorities said.
He is currently in the Lee County Jail awaiting a bond hearing, which is scheduled for 1 p.m. today at the Lee County Justice Court.
Dennis Roberson, 35, was stabbed several times in the back and head after an altercation at the Elks, according to authorities. He remains hospitalized in serious condition.
The incident started with an altercation inside the lodge. When security forced the two men to leave, the fight carried over into the parking lot.
Even though several people were around when the incident happened, Tupelo Police Detective Capt. Bart Aguirre said no one would come forward with information that would lead to an arrest.
