TUPELO – A 91-year-old Tupelo man has been identified as the driver in a hit-and-run accident that injured a bicyclist on the Natchez Trace Parkway in December.
Parkway rangers on Thursday said Hugh G. Cobb was the driver of the 2004 Dodge Dakota pickup that reportedly struck Robert Bowers of Flemingsburg, Ky., on Dec. 22. The driver left the scene after the accident.
Chief Ranger Mike Foster said Cobb faces three charges – unsafe operation of a vehicle, failure to report an accident and failure to observe the rule that requires a 3-foot buffer between vehicles and bicyclists.
A formal complaint against Cobb is expected to be signed in Oxford next week, and his trial could come in February or March, Foster said.
