CHICKASAW COUNTY – A man wanted for questioning in connection to an armed robbery in Amory turned himself in to a deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department early Friday night.
William Marcus Jones, 29, of eastern Chickasaw County, was being sought on a warrant in connection with the Wednesday morning armed robbery of Sassy Pup, a pet grooming store in Amory.
“He turned himself in to our deputy in the Buena Vista community about 6:30 p.m.,” said James Myers, Chief Deputy with the Chickasaw County Sheriff’s Department. “There was no confrontation in making the arrest. He was driven to the Monroe County line and turned over to the Amory Police Department.”
Myers said they believe Jones had been in the area since Wednesday. A warrant for Jones has been issued on Friday morning.
“We got a good description from the Amory Police Department and developed a suspect,” said Myers. “We also got some good information from the community and that also helped us make this arrest.”
Jones is alleged to have driven a PT Cruiser taken in the robbery and abandoned it at Gann’s Clothing and Sporting Goods on Highway 8 West in Houston on Wednesday shortly after the 10 a.m. robbery in Amory occurred. The Houston Police Department spotted the vehicle about noon.
