Suspects arrested in Friday robbery of M&F bank

TUPELO – Suspects have been taken into custody in connection with the Friday afternoon bank robbery at Merchants and Farmer’s Bank on North Gloster Street.
It is not clear when the men where taken into custody or how many there are, but Tupelo Police Chief Tony Carleton said no charges have been filed at this time and if they are, it will be Monday at the earliest.
Police said a man walked into the bank Friday at after 3 p.m. and demanded a teller give him money. Authorities said the man showed a weapon and left the bank heading east on Hillcrest Drive. He was described as a white male about 5 feet 5 inches and 160 pounds. He was wearing a white, long-sleeved hooded sweatshirt and dark jeans and white shoes.
The FBI is the lead agency in this case.
