SUV hits school band bus in Tennessee, at least one killed

LEBANON, Tenn. — One person has been killed and 10 others have been transported to area hospitals after a sports utility vehicle hit two buses carrying Oakland High School band members Saturday.

Adam Spears, a dispatcher with the Wilson County Emergency Management Agency tells The Associated Press the driver of a Dodge Durango was killed after colliding with two school buses on a rural highway southeast of Nashville.

Ten bus passengers were taken to area hospitals with non-critical injuries. The identity of the SUV driver was not released.

WTVF-TV in Nashville first reported the death.

The students were headed to a band competition at Lebanon High School. The bus was headed north on Highway 231 from Murfreesboro to Lebanon when it was hit. Witnesses said the SUV drifted across the center line.
