TUPELO – Get your money ready: Samoas, Thin Mints and Tagalongs will be on sale starting Friday.

Girl Scouts across North Mississippi will begin cookie sales on Friday, and eight flavors are available: Samoas, Tagalongs, Thin Mints, Do-Si-Dos, Trefoils, Thank You Berry Munch, Savannah Smiles and Dulce de Leche.

Fans of the cookies can find cookie booths using the Girl Scout Cookie Locator app or by visiting girlscoutcookies.org.

Boxes are $3.50 each, but next year, prices will go up.

“It’s been 10 years” since there was a price change, said Jenny Jones, marketing director for Girl Scouts Heart of the South, the council that includes Northeast Mississippi troops. “Prices have continued to rise on our end. They cost more to produce.”

Next year’s price hasn’t been determined.

Cookies were distributed to troops on Monday.

Troops will use the money they earn from sales to fund projects, attend camp and take educational trips. Scouts in one Northeast Mississippi troop, Jones said, have saved their cookie money for several years and will now take a trip to New York City this year.

“Every penny stays local,” Jones said. “It either stays with the troop or goes to the council to support troops.”

Cookie sales end the weekend of March 15.
