Symphony sets first concert of the season

CLINTON, Miss. (AP) — The Mississippi Wind Symphony will present the first concert of its 2012 season on May 22 at Swor Auditorium on the campus of Mississippi College.

The performance is set for 7:30 p.m. The concert is free and open to the public.

Its theme, “Just for Fun,” highlights the music of Giuseppe Verdi, Norman Dello Joio, Percy Grainger, Sergei Prokofiev, Robert Russell Bennett and P.D.Q. Bach.

The symphony is conducted by Craig Young, band director at Mississippi College.
