TAP Alliance steps up marketing with website

Though still weeks away, the TAP Alliance is adding an element to its array of economic development tools – a new website.
The three-county economic development collaboration of Tishomingo, Alcorn and Prentiss counties has been steadily pursuing strategies recommended by the consultant they enlisted for guidance.
“We’re well on our way to getting it ready for what we hope will be an early summer rollout,” said Gary Chandler, president of The Alliance in Alcorn County. “We’ll have a focus on industry, as the consultant’s study recommended, including several industrial development sites and focusing particularly on the Burnsville site.”
The group also has been getting help from TVA Technical Services Division and its target market specialists to create marketing materials with the right focus to recruit various sectors.
“We’re really trying to step up our marketing approach for that site, and the website will support that effort,” Chandler said.
The website developer, Cathy Jacobs of Starkville, has broad experience in designing sites for economic development organizations, including The Alliance and the Prentiss County Development Association.
“When we put the project out to bids, her work rose to the top,” Chandler said. “We’re pleased with the products we’d gotten in our prior experience with her.”
The site – at www.tapinto industry.com when activated – will sport the organization’s new logo, developed with the help of the North Mississippi Industrial Development Association.
The website also will strategically link to the Mississippi Development Authority’s LOIS – LocationOne Information System – site selection program and the TVA site database.
“The more exposure you have on the Web the better you are,” Chandler said.
