FULTON – In order to meet financial obligations for the 2010-2011 school year, Itawamba County School Board members reluctantly agreed to ask for a 2 percent ad valorem tax increase from the Itawamba County Board of Supervisors.
“We are concerned about asking for this increase since many people are experiencing difficulty meeting their obligations already,” said Clara Brown, District 4 representative. “However we know we must have money to operate our schools.”
The increase was deemed necessary to compensate for cuts from the state and will be required in order to stay on budget target, according to Cheree Brown, district accountant.
