Taylor Farmers’ Market offers increasing range of foods, crafts, entertainment

The Taylor Farmers’ Market welcomes June with the area’s biggest and most varied selection of fresh local produce, fine prepared foods and crafts on Saturdays from 8 a.m. to noon in the Plein Air Neighborhood. Summer produce is coming in fast, and with Jared Spears and Friends providing the musical entertainment, the market just keeps getting better.
Old Thyme Farms has joined the market family and is proud to offer all-natural, pastured raised heritage breed pork, including several flavors of delicious sausage, roasts, ground pork and ribs. Brad, Jodi and Willow Solomon raise and prepare their pigs with love, and never with antibiotics, hormones, nitrates, MSG or chemicals of any kind. Visit with them for cooking tips and recipes, as well as their great selection of organic produce, such as squash, zucchini, okra, green beans, herbs and the first flush of the local tomatoes.
Yokna Bottoms, Poultry in Motion and Taylor Creek Farms will have spring and summer produce, eggs, honey and fabulous breads, sweets, hummus and canned items. Be sure to stop by Poultry in Motion’s booth to try Kerry’s newest creations- strawberry banana jam and cranberry-apple-walnut relish. Doug, Taylor and the Yokna Bottoms CSA gang always have a bountiful assortment of organic produce, and they enjoy talking to folks about all the exciting things going on down at the farm. Grindstone Mustards will also be on hand with flavor sensations that go with so much more than just a sandwich. Also scheduled to be at market is Gulf Fresh Seafood with lovely Miss. shrimp by the pound.
Browse the artists’ booths, including Cherry Watkins children’s and home accessories, Bethany Cooper’s jewelry, Michelle’s soaps and Laura Schlett’s photographs, and enjoy the music as Jared and his troupe of merry makers crank up the fun, and be sure to check out Olivia’s Corner Market for breakfast, lunch and cold sodas next door.
There is so much to see, taste, smell, listen to and do at the Taylor Farmers’ Market, it’s no wonder it’s THE place to be Saturday mornings. The vendors are famously friendly and accommodating, and when you join them, you become part of the market family too!
