TUPELO – The upcoming Tupelo Concert Association season is full of classical, jazz and classic rock ’n’ roll.
TCA announced its 2013-2014 season on Monday night at a volunteer banquet and encouraged its members to renew memberships and sell new memberships for the season.
The season kicks off with the Sixth Floor Trio, a chamber group that combines musical styles and artistic disciplines.
Doo wop band The Diamonds, who scored a million-selling hit “Little Darlin’” in 1957, will perform on Nov. 15.
“If you like rock ’n’ roll, you’ll love this group,” said TCA’s former president, Chauncey Godwin, who presented the season at the banquet.
Jesse Lynch’s Jazz 101 will take place on Feb. 4, 2014. Lynch and his band will present a history of jazz, from ragtime to swing to fusion.
Bach to the Future will close out the season. The group fuses classical music with modern jazz and world influences.
“This is some of the most unique music I’ve ever heard,” Godwin said of Bach to the Future.
Show dates have not yet been confirmed for Sixth Floor Trio or Bach to the Future but will be announced soon.
All shows will take place at the Tupelo Civic Auditorium.
The 2012-2013 TCA season concludes next month, with ’60s rock band Papa Doo Run Run at the Civic Auditorium on March 7 and The Legacy of Floyd Cramer featuring Jason Coleman on March 21 at the Link Centre. Both shows begin at 7:30 p.m. and tickets for each show are $25.
