TUPELO – Curtains have been rising and falling on Tupelo Community Theatre for 40 years.
TCT’s board of directors decided it was time to celebrate – themselves.
Actually, the theater will throw a party for its 16 founding members, as well as anyone who’s ever served on TCT’s board of directors.
“It’s our 40th year,” said Tom Booth, TCT executive director, “and we wanted to honor the people who helped make it all possible.”
Everyone’s invited to the roof at Park Heights from 6 to 8 p.m. Sept. 16. The cost is $25, and that includes heavy hors d’oeuvres and adult beverages.
“The founding members won’t have to pay,” Booth said. “It’s free for them and for past board members.”
Music will be provided by the Johnny Fears Jazz Band.
There will be a short program to unveil a historic marker about TCT and the Lyric Theatre’s history. The plaque will be installed at the Lyric at a later date.
If you’re interested in tickets for the 2010-11 season, which begins Sept. 30 with “The Fantasticks,” information will be available. Call (662) 844-1935 to learn more.
“It’s mainly just a time to come and enjoy fellowship,” Booth said, “and recognize what people have done over the years.”
