Tea Party group endorses Estes

SOUTHAVEN – The Tea Party of Mississippi, which represents the Desoto County area, announced today its endorsement of 1st District congressional candidate Robert Estes.

Estes, a Southaven businessman and Tea Party activist, is running in the Republican primary against incumbent U.S. Rep. Alan Nunnelee, R-Miss., and Eupora attorney Henry Ross.

“He’s just a local guy that owns his own business that came up from the hard knocks,” said Tea Party of Mississippi spokesman Clay Meadows. “We’ve got a fresh face that hasn’t been tainted with the corruption of politics.”

Meadows said his board unanimously selected Estes.

Other Tea Party groups in the 1st District haven’t made endorsements, yet.

The congressional primary will be held March 13. The winner will face Democrat Brad Morris and Libertarian Danny Bedwell in the November general election.
