LAKE CORMORANT — Authorities say a 61-year-old Tennessee man was killed after his Jeep overturned and he was ejected onto the road in a one-car accident in Lake Cormorant, Miss.

DeSoto County Coroner Jeff Pounders tells The Commercial Appeal that Gillis Joel Angeron Jr. of Collierville was pronounced dead at the scene Wednesday afternoon.

Pounders said the accident occurred on U.S. Highway 61, about a mile south of the Lake Cormorant post office.

Pounders said Angeron was alone in an older model Jeep Cherokee when he went off the shoulder of the road and landed in a ditch.
