Thanks to early detection Ann Blaylock is proud to say she is a cancer survivor.
In January 2008, during a yearly mammorgram, a spot was found in her breast. She went for a biopsy, and the results showed the early stages of breast cancer. Two weeks later, Blaylock had surgery, and no treatment was necessary.
“Early detection was the key for me,” she said. “Thanks to that I went through it with flying colors.” Now Blaylock has regular check-ups every three months.
“I had a tremendous amount of support from my family and my church family. A lot of prayers were answered.
“Last year was my first year to attend Relay for Life as a cancer survivor. It’s truly a blessing to be involved in such an extraordinary event like Relay where family and friends come together to honor those fighting cancer and remember those who have lost the battle.”
